Abstract

Palm oil mill is a factory that processes Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) of oil palm into several products, namely Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Palm Kernel (PK). In a palm oil mill, there is a claybath machine that is used for the process of separating shells and kernels. In general, claybath uses a manual system to set the density value, so the potential for kernel losses is very high. Therefore, the author is interested in conducting research using a mass coriolis-type flow meter and reverse flow rinsing so that the density value can be more stable, there is no error in sensor readings, and kernel loss is minimized. This research was conducted in November 2023. Located at the PT. TS Palm Oil Mill, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. In this study, it was found that optimizing the claybath using a coriolis flow meter sensor and auto reverse flow rinsing can maintain a stable density value. Auto reverse flow rinsing can minimize CaCO3 deposits in the sampling pipe, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the flow meter sensor performance on the claybath. Kernel losses in claybath can be more easily maintained so as not to exceed process parameter limits.
