Abstract

Lintas Lorentz is a ship designed to transport packaged and container goods. Based on this function, ships usually have to be equipped with a crane. These facilities are used to maximize or support the functions of the ship itself. The ship plans to make modifications by adding a crane. This is because previously, this ship did not have its own crane. Therefore, this ship made modifications by adding a crane on the ship's port side as a loading and unloading tool. One of the considerations of adding a crane to a ship is the strength of the deck construction. It is necessary to analyze the strength of the deck construction on adding a crane foundation to the ship due to operational loads using the finite element method. To determine the maximum load that the deck construction can withstand, construction modeling was carried out using AutoCAD 2007 software and then analyzed using Ansys 17.2 software. The amount of load experienced by the construction is varied, ranging from a load of 105 tons to 135 tons to determine the maximum stress that occurs in the construction of the deck on the crane foundation due to the operational load and the maximum load limit that it can withstand. The analysis of operational load shows that the maximum deformation that occurs is 0.0419 mm and the maximum stress is 2.578 MPa. Using the maximum stress limitation criteria and the maximum allowable deformation, it can be seen that the construction can withstand the foundation load and the maximum cranes are 135 tons with a load angle of 5 degrees.
